The Gordon Darragh Leadership Scholars Program Scholarship
This competitive full-tuition, full cost of attendance scholarship was created as an opportunity to attract and support high achieving students at East Carolina University. The scholarship program involves leadership development with the goal of continually enhancing the overall image of the university. Leadership and service are interconnected, and this program highlights the importance of both activities at East Carolina University and beyond. Students will live in Jarvis Leadership Hall, where students interact with successful community members and civic leaders, as well as participate in interactive workshops, leadership seminars, and service-learning.
The selected student will complete the ECU Leads program towards development of a capstone project. The ECU Leads program, a partnership between Student Affairs and the College of Arts and Sciences, will employ an integrated approach and link both curricular and co-curricular leadership education. Students will be recognized for their participation in the program at an official university awards ceremony, and their work will be noted on their transcripts. Professional and peer mentors will guide students through the program as members of individual cohorts. This approach will help students build a leadership portfolio that will contain both course-based and co-curricular leadership experiences.
The Darragh Scholars program will provide financial support for selected students throughout undergraduate career. Students must maintain scholarship criteria to remain eligible. The selected scholar will receive an annual scholarship award of up to $25,000, covering the costs of tuition, fees, room and board. Dollars in excess of East Carolina’s “Total Cost of Attendance” will be used towards service-learning opportunities, books, computer/technology and additional programming dollars for student’s experience through Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement.
NOTE: SCHOLARSHIP FINALISTS MUST PARTICIPATE IN A CAMPUS INTERVIEW WITH THE DONOR ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2019. FINALISTS WILL BE CONTACTED TO SCHEDULE AN INTERVIEW TIME.
