The Educators Hall of Fame Scholarship

The Hall of Fame scholarship is a four year $20,000 scholarship awarded to a deserving incoming freshmen from eastern North Carolina pursuing a degree in education through the ECU College of Education and who wish to pursue a career as an educator in North Carolina.The scholarship is modeled after the N.C. Teaching Fellows Scholarship and, as such, recipients will be expected to teach in a public, charter, or government school for four years following graduation. Individuals have up to seven years to complete this requirement. The Hall of Fame Scholarship is administered from the ECU Education Community of Scholars office. Recipients will have a required on-campus living component for the freshmen year, a four year programmatic component, and specific criteria for receiving funds. Scholarship will be awarded to deserving students who meet the following criteria:

At least a 3.5 high school GPA (unweighted) or other as determined by committee. Demonstrated commitment to the study of and a career in education.

Finalist will be required to attend an on-campus interview, provide additional academic information (fall semester transcript), and reference information (2 references in signed/sealed envelope) at the interview. Specific directions about the provision of this additional information will be sent to all candidates that advance to the interview level.
