Dr. Sylvia Brown

Established in 1999 by the Dean of the College of Nursing, Dr. Sylvia Brown, this scholarship was made to provide support for students in public health nursing. Mabel Cooper Hayden died on September 3, 1997. She was born July 7, 1908 in Amsterdam, Mo, and moved to Raleigh in 1974. She retired in 1973 as a public health nurse from the State of Maryland with twenty-three and a half years of service. This student must have good academic standing and meet criteria deemed appropriate by the Office of Student Services within the College of Nursing.
