Peggy & Raymond Reed

Established in 2009 by Peggy & Raymond Reed, this scholarship was created to provide support to an ECU nursing student who graduated from Ayden Grifton High School or is a resident of Pitt County. This scholarship is in honor of their daughter, Vickie C. Whitehurst, CON Class of 1982 and in memory of their son, Steven E. Whitehurst.

Peggy died in 2017; her husband predeceased her. She grew up in Ayden, but lived for many years in Waynesboro, Va. With declining health, she moved into her daughter’s home in Greenville. Peggy was always so proud of all Vickie had accomplished with her CON degree.
