Rachel Hardee Klitzman

Rachel Hardee Klitzman

Rachel Hardee Klitzman, was born October 10, 1983 in Shreveport, LA to Bruce and Hardee Brown Klitzman. She moved at the age of 2 with her family to Durham. Rachel was so excited when she was 5 and became the proud older sister of Page. They had such great times growing up together. Rachel graduated from Immaculata Catholic School, Cardinal Gibbons High School where she loved cheerleading and dance, and East Carolina University College of Nursing. She began her nursing career at UNC Hospital on the orthopedicsfloor and then in orthopedic trauma at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Rachel was an inveterate caregiver, always nurturing and supporting those in need. She was a radiant spirit who adored her family and friends and had a special knack for keeping in touch with everyone. Rachel was brimming with enthusiasm over her upcoming marriage to Stephen and looking forward to beginning a family of her own with him. She loved to travel with her family and friends, and was equally content staying at home to play games. When Rachel died unexpectedly at the age of 25 (Aug. 9, 2009) of an undiagnosed cardiac abnormality, her family knew immediately that she would want to help others become nurses who might not otherwise have the financial means to pursue their nursing dream.
