The Department of Engineering PIRATES Scholars Program
These scholarships will be awarded to high-achieving incoming freshmen in the Department of Engineering with demonstrated financial need. In addition to financial support, this program offers scholars access to a range of co-curricular supports designed to help their transition into college and enhance their academic and professional success. Scholarship recipients should be willing to participate in program activities and must live in the ELC (Engineering Learning Community) during their freshman year.
Applicants will be required to provide information for two references who can provide a letter of recommendation. One letter must be from a high school teacher in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) subject. References should be able to speak to the applicant’s motivation, maturity, perseverance, reliability, self-reliance, and teamwork.
Finalists may be required to provide additional information as requested by the selection committee and will be notified by email.
Eligibility requirements: unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 or better and must intend to earn a B.S. in Engineering from the Department of Engineering at ECU.
