The College of Education Community of Scholars Scholarship

The College of Education Community of Scholars Program awards up to 20, four year programmatic scholarships to outstanding high school seniors who wish to be classroom teachers. These scholarships vary between $20,000 – $26,000 and are modeled after the N.C. Teaching Fellows Scholarships and, as such, recipients are expected to teach in a public, charter, or government school for four years following graduation. Individuals have up to seven years to complete this requirement. The Education Community of Scholar Scholarships are administered from the ECU Education Community of Scholars office in the College of Education. Recipients have a required on-campus living component for the freshmen year, a four year programmatic component, and specific academic and programmatic criteria for receiving funds.

Finalists are required to attend an on-campus interview, provide additional academic information (fall semester transcript), and reference information (2 references in signed/sealed envelope) at the interviews. Specific directions about the provision of this additional information will be sent to all candidates that advance to the interview level.
