The First Aboard - Residential First Generation Scholars Program
This scholarship is open to first generation college students that are incoming first-time, full-time (at least 12 credit hours) students in the fall term at ECU.
(1) Students must live on-campus in university owned housing and have a residential board plan. Students will be placed together in one residence hall, which will be determined at the time of assignment
(2) Students must meet every two weeks with their First Aboard mentor to report academic and personal progress
(3) Students will participate in the First Aboard first year seminar (COAD) sections
(4) Students agree to participate in academic coaching at the Pirates Academic Success Center, as determined by their First Aboard mentor
(5) Students will participate in a service-learning project during Fall Break
(6) Students agree to participate in a designated number of First Aboard Programs done in conjunction with the Office of Student Transitions (OST)
(7) Students and parents will be asked to attend a designated First Aboard focused Orientation during the summer
(8) Students will need to have a minimum of a 2.25 GPA after their first semester and a 2.5 after their second and subsequent semesters to remain in the program, in addition to meeting the other requirements.
(9) Students agree to limit work to 15 hours per week on-campus (while classes are in session).
The opportunity to continue the scholarship and program participation into a second year will be available.

- This scholarship has residential and programmatic requirements that recipients must follow. A few examples include, living in the same residence hall with other recipients, attending a specific section of COAD 1000, attending and participating in a fall break experience and other programs throughout the semesters.
