The Sylvia T. Brown Endowed Scholarship

This College of Nursing scholarship is for undergraduate students that have been accepted into the nursing program and are North Carolina residents. It is awarded in honor of Dr. Sylvia T. Brown in celebration of her 2022 retirement as the dean of the ECU College of Nursing.

Dr. Brown is from Beulaville, NC and graduated with her BSN from ECU in 1975 and her MSN from ECU in 1978. She became a clinical instructor in 1976 and taught throughout her career. After receiving her EED from NC State, she was named acting dean in 2066 and retired as dean of the College of Nursing in June 2022. Through this scholarship fund, Dr. Brown’s legacy of commitment to education, service to ECU, and dedication to the nursing profession will live on in perpetuity.
