The Laura Marie Leary Elliott Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Laura Marie Leary Elliott was the first African American full-time undergraduate student at East Carolina University and helped to pave the way for other students of color. She received a degree in business administration. Mrs. Leary Elliott demonstrated courage in integrating ECU.

This scholarship will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics disciplines or fields with at least a 3.0 GPA. First preference is given to students actively involved with the Ledonia Wright Cultural Center. The scholarship selection committee shall consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, or other status prohibited or disfavored by law.
