The UnitedHealthcare RIBN Rural Health Scholarship
UnitedHealthcare offers this scholarship with the goal of impacting the health care of rural, underserved areas in North Carolina. The ECU College of Nursing’s Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) program is designed to improve the health and health outcomes of North Carolinians by enhancing the educational preparation of the nursing workforce. The program provides a four-year nursing option that concurrently enrolls students in a Community College and a University where they complete both their Associate Degree in Nursing and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. This scholarship program aims to assist students financially in the final year of the RIBN program with preference given to students who have excelled academically, demonstrate financial need, and wish to begin work in rural underserved areas. Students are expected to provide employment data in the final semester of the program and after graduation to the RIBN director.
